ALERT! ALERT! This week's Record of the Week is VERY special. I mean, they are all special in their own ways, aren't they? But this week.... THIS WEEK.... I have a record that ticks a lot of special boxes:✅ An exclusive yet-to-be released recording
✅ A rare vinyl pressing (only 100 pieces made)
✅ Giving my Skratch Bastid newsletter reader and Top Grillin' VIP member, a chance to take it home. Sign up here http://www.skratchbastid.com/vip and here http://www.skratchbastid.com/newsletter
✅ Did I mention: it's EXTREMELY DOPE.Now that I've got you on the edge of your seat, let's dig into the record pictured above. This song was a song recorded in 24 hours as part of a group contest at DJ Jazzy Jeff's annual Playlist Retreat. Every year at the retreat, groups are created at random pairing, and the groups are given 24 hours to complete a song together. Each year, there is a subject or theme to the songs. And this year, the theme was "pairs". Fire & Ice. Peanut Butter & Jelly. Salt & Pepper, etc.... Fun, right? My group was given the trio of "Mind, Body, and Soul". I was teamed up with The Kount, STLN DRMS, Lyric Jones, and Miss H.E.R. - Canada / USA connect! We created a 3 part song, and it's FIRE - very excited for you to hear that. Soon! And while I was thrilled to see DJ Premier giving the stank face as our joint played over the loudspeakers at dinner, I must say, the biggest jawdropper for me came from Group 7's "Cowboys & Indians".The group was comprised of Safa, Pocket Queen, Dez Andres, Thes One, Sound Oracle, and Kaidi Tatham. Which on paper should already excite you, but MAN - the results! As I say in the clip - this joint is a hit. It sounded so good and finished and mastered and professionally written - just 24 hrs after being paired up! Unbelievable.Do you like it as much as i do? Sound off in the comments!
