De La Soul's 10th album "Cabin in the Sky" was released this past Friday. I had heard the album back in late September at DJ Jazzy Jeff's Playlist Retreat when De La's own Plug Three DJ Maseo shared it with the stunned group. Then, earlier this month, I was lucky enough to be served an advance copy, and so I blessed my loyal Tuesday Morning Coffee listeners with previews of two tracks on the week of release. The standout "Run It Back" featuring Nas (who's having an incredible year for features) and produced by De La and their secret weapon Supa Dave West, and the earworm that has persisted since that Playlist listening session in the form of "...FIRE LIFE" and it's incredible Roy Ayers "Everybody Loves The Sunshine" loop. Is that a run-on sentence? I don't know or care.
