"Rewind" is a cult classic from Nas' catalog, off of the Stillmatic album. It's a story tale rap, but the twist is that it's told in reverse. Each line fills in what happened previously in the story, along with backwards wordplay and time-distorting details. Large Professor produced it -- a drum beat based on T La Rock's "It's Yours" with some mood-setting samples, and sfx that add to the story. I won't spoil it any further - go give it a listen.For the first time, it has been released as a single, with the instrumental on the B-side, but the A-side novelty should grab some attention. The record itself plays from the inside-out, sure to confuse a few onlookers, or even DJs who don't read the hype sticker. I admit, it took some getting used to as I looked down on the record, playing it for the first time.And it just came out this week, so surely it's your first time as well.
