In December 2024, we staged a sold-out, multi-genre Miller Mix show at Old Park Station in Johannesburg, South Africa. Our latest documentary takes you behind the scenes, offering an insider look at the show, with some very special guests.From Afro Tech and Afro House innovator Shimza, who headlined the event, to the likes of Shamiso, Oscar Mbo, Mörda and competition winner Ntokozo Mkhwanazi, this episode spotlights the city’s unique music scene with insights straight from the lineup.Together, these artists break down what makes Johannesburg and South Africa so special when it comes to electronic music. The energy here is unmatched, they explain, and new sounds are constantly emerging – from 3-Step to the flourishing amapiano, played and purveyed by stars like Scorpion Kings and DBN Gogo, both of whom also played the event. The genre-weaving Sun-El Musician also featured on the Miller Mix lineup.For the artists we spoke to, the music is about connecting with the community and embracing South Africa’s deep-rooted dance culture.
